In 1968, V.W. Miller Intermediate opened its doors to 1,000 students and 45 teachers. Joe T. Hext was the campus’ first principal. The building was named for V. W. Miller, a former superintendent of Pasadena ISD and an influential community member. In 1976, the enrollment was 989 students.

In 2014, the school placed first overall in the state’s Academic Pentathlon and Super Quiz. In 2018 and 2019, the school earned all seven state distinctions by TEA. In 2020, Miller Intermediate was named a Gold Ribbon school by Children at Risk, an organization that specializes in addressing issues that affect Texas’ youth. That same year, the campus was also named a National Model PLC School and received a CREST award for its counseling program. The campus currently serves around 900 students in seventh and eighth grade.
